L to R: Bro Johnny Cook, Junior Deacon - WBro Jack Hargreaves MVO, Worshipful Master, Mr Darren Jackson - WBro Barry Adamson, Secretary

Members of Ubique Lodge No 1789, the Lodge of the Royal Artillery, together with wives/partners and guests raised the sum of £2,000 at their annual Summer Ball held at the Union Jack Club, London in June 2019.

The Worshipful Master of the Lodge, WBro Jack Hargreaves MVO nominated Combat Stress, the UK leading charity for veteran’s mental health, as his preferred charity for his year.

His brother had been diagnosed with PTSD following various operational tours in Bosnia, Kosova and the Gulf, and this was his way of giving something back for their support.

The presentation of the cheque was made to the Combat Stress representative Mr Darren Jackson, himself an ex-gunner. Due to the corona virus the presentation was held outside the main entrance of Freemasons Hall, Great Queen Street, London, in October 2020 with adequate social distancing being observed.

For over a century Combat Stress has been helping former servicemen and women deal with issues like post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), anxiety and depression. Today they provide specialist treatment and support for veterans from every service and conflict, focusing on those with complex mental health issues.
