Walthamstow Lodge No 2472 celebrates their (nearly!) 100year-old brother Posted on 23.10.2019 On 5th October 2019 at Freemasons Hall, in the presence of 29 members and guests, W Bro. William (Bill) Allen, LGR attended his Mother Lodge, Walthamstow No. 2472 just shy of his 100th Birthday. W Bro. Bill was celebrated by the lodge for his commitment and enthusiasm over the course of his masonic career and was presented with a custom certificate - signed by all the members of the lodge - memorialising all his masonic achievements. Born in 1919, he could be considered a late starter into Masonry, having been initiated into the lodge in 1978, but he more than made up for it by serving as Almoner for 12 years, and being promoted to LGR in 1997. In 2013 the Lodge members elected him as an Honorary Member. W Bro. Bill had a fantastic day, and it is hoped that he will be able to attend the lodge on Dec 7th.... his actual 100th birthday!
